Author Talk and Book Signing

  • Gilroy Library Sixth & Rosanna Streets Gilroy, CA, 95020 (map)

Sonia C. Gomez will discuss her book followed by Q&A and a book signing. Hear the story of how Japanese women immigrated to the US as wives during periods when they were racially excluded: the first wave in the early twentieth century, known as picture brides, and then the second wave of immigration after WWII, war brides.

Picture Bride, War Bride vividly illustrates how marriage created pockets of inclusion during times of exclusion.
